Egyptians believed in the concept of the law of attraction, but the term was not popular. The concepts of the seven Hermetic principles are very similar to the law of attraction. In this article, I’ll explain the seven hermetic principles and quotes to provide a logic that Egyptians believed in the law of attraction. Indeed, the law of attraction terms has been popular in the last 100 years, but it is the basic concept of all philosophies. Before explaining the quotes, it is important to understand Hermeticism.
What is Hermeticism?
Hermeticism is a philosophical system based on the teaching of Hermes Trismegistus, a mythical legend or a combination of the Greek God Hermes and the Egyptian God Thoth. This teaching is written attributes of this legend which was produced and manifested since 300 BCE.
Did Egyptians Believe in the Law of Attraction?
Based on this hermetic secret of manifestation, everything in the universe, whether physical, emotional, spiritual or intellectual, is a part of divine creation.
People always give all these different names, such as mystery, life force, belief system, cosmic consciousness and many others, but all these are divine creations, and human beings can control them with the help of their minds.
It is true that we live in an omnipresent and omniscient energy force, and we are separated and attracted to this divine force in different ways.
The ‘Change’ is the continuous force in this divine creation. Whether or not we can control it must be changed with the help of divine wisdom because energy is present everywhere; it cannot be reduced.
In the philosophical book Kybalion, we can find several Hermetic principles to understand whether Egyptians believe in the Law of Attraction or not.
7 Hermetic Principles and Quotes
These principles are the central concept of the book. Today, these quotes help us to understand their beliefs.
1. The Principle of Mentalism
“All is Mind; the Universe is Mental.”
Explanation: Egyptian people believe ‘All’ is the modern concept of God. The universe is nothing but the creation of this divine God, and we are bound to maintain all the laws.
On the other hand, you can explain in the following way:
Our mind is the most powerful thing in the world, and we can create a universe with the help of the modern term ‘law of attraction’. Our mentality helps us to achieve anything in our universe. From this line, we can explain that the ‘all’ is mind means that God is in our mind, and we can easily achieve our success with a positive mentality.
2. The Principle of Correspondence
“As above, so below; as below, so above.” […] This principle embodies the truth that there is always a correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of being and life.
Explanation: There is always a correspondence between laws and phenomena. If we try to achieve something with the law of attraction, we can easily achieve that and make it our reality. The first line signifies the modern concept of ‘karma’. You will get the reward of your ‘karma’.
3. The Principle of Vibration
“Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates.”
Explanation: Here comes the main concept of the law of attraction because even modern concepts believe that everything in our universe has a vibration that hits the universe. As a result, the universe hits back the same vibration as a mirror. That means if you apply the law of attraction to your development, you will get a return from the universe. Besides that, if you produce negative vibration, it will reflect in the same way. So you must have control of your thoughts.
4. The Principle of Polarity
“Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.”
Explanation: The lines suggest everything in the universe has positive and negative sides. An incident or belief can be positive for your mind, but it can be negative for others. So ‘everything is dual… has its pair of opposites.
5. The Principle of Rhythm
“Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.”
Explanation: Ups and downs are part of our life. It flows like a rhythm, and it compensates at the end. You must believe in God and yourself, and the swing will turn in your favour.
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect
“Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause; everything happens according to law; chance is but a name for law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the law.”
Explanation: Everything that happens around you has its own rhythms, causes and effects. If anything goes against you, you must believe in the concept of the Principle of Polarity. That means if it is not suitable for you, it can be suitable for others because everything has dual poles. The different creation has a law, and everyone maintains this law in some way or other.
7. The Principle of Gender
“Gender is in everything; everything has its masculine and feminine principles; gender manifests on all planes.”
Explanation: Gender is the mother of all creation, and masculine and feminine make the universe more beautiful, whether it is trees, plants, animals or human beings. Even in science, energy has negative and positive poles which attract each other. It is the law of nature, and everyone must maintain this law.
